Azalea Festival

Springtime is Near! Wilmington’s 70th Annual North Carolina Azalea Festival is staged for April 5th-9th, 2017. Wilmington’s largest festival was founded in 1948 and has attracted millions of people with it’s beautiful flowers and live entertainment. You can expect the festival to provide endless amounts of entertainment through concerts, fairs and other special events like pageantry! This year, there are over 1,000 volunteers creating and working over 50 events including art shows, the popular street fair, home and garden tours, circus, and parade. The time to buy is NOW!

Hampstead NC Bypass

The time has finally come for Hampstead, NC residents to see a little less traffic on the main road of Hwy 17. NCDOT has approved for a bypass in Hampstead, NC to start in New Hanover County with an interchange of the U.S. 17 Wilmington Bypass and will extend into Sloop Point Road. Bypass is proposed to extend behind Topsail Schools and interchange at Hwy 210 as well. The $152.2 million project has current plans to undergo construction as soon as the year 2020. This part of the construction has been combined with another project in Hampstead which is to place a median in Hampstead. Some residents see this as a huge safety measure, while others find it as a waste of money. It’s no secret that Hwy 17 through Holly Ridge and Hampstead are overflowing with heavy traffic. A bypass could eliminate commute times, traffic, and reduce vehicular accidents along the popular Hwy 17. Other residents find that placing medians in Hampstead could potentially cause more accidents. Placing a median in Hampstead would mean no left-hand turns except only those at intersections with light signals, thus, forcing drivers to yield at intersections to practice proper U-Turns. Some residents feel this very thing could cause more accidents to occur. The state has agreed to fund the bypass in hopes of less traffic and accidents through the area! Right-of-way acquisition in Hampstead is to begin in May 2018. With new projects happening around here, Hampstead has quite the appeal to onlookers!

Residential boom hits Hampstead, NC

With rapid growth over the past few years, Hampstead North Carolina in Pender County is booming with residential development.  Pender County Board of Commissioners has approved a sewer line by Pluris Hampstead, LLC that will be built from Scotts Hill to Country Club Drive in Hampstead.  With sewer coming, commercial investors and businesses are looking to take advantage of the demand for new developments and shopping centers.  

Developers mike Pollak and David Greer have began development with partial infrastructure in place, houses are already going up and will be available for purchase in what is now Wyndwater and was the old Topsails Greens Golf Club. Wyndwater will offer new homes by local builders starting in the mid 200's. 

Just north on Hwy 17 is Cardinal Point is another new development which is in the master plan process and is proposed to offer 250 properties on what is now the site of a mobile home park. 

The residential boom hitting Hampstead is due to many factors.
